Welcome to Delta County Emergency Service District (ESD) 1

Who We Are

About Us:

The Delta County Emergency Services District (ESD) is a political subdivision of the State of Texas, like a school district or a county.  The ESD operates under the Texas Health and Safety Code, Chapter 775 or 776 as a taxing entity to better provide public funding for ambulance and fire services.

ESD tax revenues may be used to contract with other entities that provide ambulance and fire services, and/or purchase new equipment and facilities.  ESDs were created as the only practical way to adequately support emergency services in small suburban and rural areas of the state.

History:

On May 7, 1994, the taxpayers of Delta County voted in favor of establishing an ESD. Funding would be provided in accordance with state law by the levy of an ad valorem tax (no more than .10 cents per $100 valuation) and a ½ of one percent sales tax.

Contracted Service Providers:

Ambulance – Hopkins County EMS

Fire – Cooper Volunteer Fire Department

Board Meetings

Board meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday each month at 4:30 PM at the Delta County Court House 2nd Floor.

Adjustments may be necessary to dates and times.  See “Upcoming Events” on this page.
